Title: Leading in Crisis (Panel 45 Minutes)

Author(s) : Mary Ellen Zuckerman, Prabakar Kothandaraman, Barry Friedman

In this panel two business school Deans provide insights into leadership in crisis by describing their experiences of leading through the educational, health, and financial challenges posed by COVID-19. They address issues of communication, heightened student need for educational, technological and mental health support, faculty and staff morale, and the need to provide forward looking leadership. Relationships with stakeholders (faculty, staff, students, parents, top leadership, alumni, employers) changed from pre-COVID 19 times, and also shifted over the year long time period of the crisis. Leading through these changes required empathy, resiliency, persistence and adaptability. They also required the ability to convey optimism and a vision for the post-COVID school community. IA senior faculty member will pose follow-up questions to the two Deans after they finish their comments.
